Michael Tanaka

Michael I. Tanaka - Principal, CPA, CGMA

Michael was born in Honolulu, Hawaii and graduated from Kalani High School. He joined N&K in 1985 right after graduating from the University of Hawaii at Manoa with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree. He received his Hawaii CPA certificate in 1990, and became a principal of the firm in 2010. Michael is responsible for overseeing the operations of the firm’s Business and Tax Services Division. Michael is also a Chartered Global Management Accountant.

He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the Hawaii Society of Certified Public Accountants (past President), and CPAmerica International. Michael also serves as Treasurer for Harris Preschool and serves on the University of Hawaii Shidler School of Accountancy Advisory board.

In his free time, Michael plays an occasional round of golf and enjoys hiking and reading.
